Living a normal life in a normal house you wouldn’t have to bother rather even give a second thought about the toilets because your standard toilet does just fine.Well, reality is, Tiny homes aren’t your conventional home and the issue of toilet needs to be taken care of. It isn’t like solar power or rain water collection that can wait and needn’t be planned ahead.

So, what are the options for tiny home toilet? I’ve tried to answer this fundamental question in the points below.

You can absolutely get this regular toilet in your home just with a consideration that it needs to be hooked up to a sewage line. Can you do that? If yes, you’re good, if not, there are various alternatives too, weight them and decide accordingly.Coming back to point, if you want to live off-grid, you can’t have sewage line, which is a fact.

This is the ‘best’ you can get, although it means shelling out almost $900 for it. But it is the best in category that will do as you are normally accustomed to. They come in 2 different types: – a self-contained and a remote toilet. The self-contained composting toilet can be quite large since it composts the waste in a container within the unit. They typically have fans and/or heating systems that reduce the odour and maintain optimal temperatures for the composting process.
Remote composting tiny house toilets allow the user to install a rather “normal” looking toilet in the bathroom itself, while the composting container sits in a separate area, usually beneath or outside of the house.

3. DRY TOILET

According to many tiny house dwellers this is the right fit for them since they don’t want to spend $900 on a composting toilet. This dry toilet is very light in weight, almost the size of a conventional toilet and costs about $400-$500.It contains an electric motor which can be charged periodically which is fit inside a bucket inside the toilet seat. Each time this tiny house toilet is flushed, the motor turns the bucket, which twists the silver liner inside of the bowl. The silver liner tightly holds the waste and puts it in the receptacle, while the new liner forms the bowl.Once the entire cartridge of liners is used up, the seat is removed, the cartridge drops into a garbage bag and the entire thing can be thrown in the trash. Then you insert a new cartridge and repeat the process.

4. RV TOILET

The word gives you an idea, it is used in RV and also campers. These toilets are water based and require emptying the tank periodically, if you don’t want to manually empty them, you can go for sewage lines in a RV park. These toilets use very little water to flush and the waste water is then collected in holding tank. It is this tank that needs to be emptied up.
